Jake Walton’s finish aided by Chris Crook penalty heroics was enough to see AFC Bridgnorth through to the first round proper in the FA Vase.

The first ten minutes saw an even contest between the two sides. With both sides taking a break from league action, this would be a great opportunity for a moral boost for one of the teams.
The first major chance of them game came on the 20 minute mark. Clever play from Walton and Glynn Coney almost resulted in the opener, but the chance went narrowly wide of the target.
Tom Grainger came close to breaking the deadlock when his chance to pull the trigger was denied by a Pershore defender in the area.
Pressure mounted for Graham Ward’s side just before the half-time interval when Pershore were awarded a penalty. However, Crook’s heroics kept the score line 0-0 going into the break.
The second half couldn’t have started better for the Meadowmen when Walton drilled in his effort from 15 yards out and made the score 1-0. It was the midfielder’s first goal for the club after making his first start under Ward, he had been struggling with an injury before his debut.
Walton then came close again with another chance. However, it resulted in Pershore’s first opening of the second half when they clipped the bar on the counter attack.
The host’s grew into the game as their number nine was threw on goal but again, Crook was there to squander the chance.
A trip to the first round proper for the Meadowmen, for the first time since 2015/16 and very well deserved. They came to Pershore with a slight lack of team spirit after a tough opening in the league and this will do them the world of good.
