AFC Bridgnorth accepted the resignation of player/manager Jason Pike earlier this week. Jason stated his personal situation has changed over the last few months and he is unable to commit the time and energy needed to fulfil the role as manager to the standard he would want. AFC Bridgnorth would like to put on record their thanks for the work and commitment of Jason Pike. His dedication as both a player and manager has been greatly appreciated. He will continue to be an integral part of the club as we move forward.
AFC Bridgnorth are pleased to announce that Dominic Heath and Steve Barrow have agreed to become the clubs new joint managers with immediate effect. The pair spent the last few seasons at Stafford Town where they’d built a competitive side on the pitch and a competent and dedicated support team behind the scenes.
Steve Barrow and Dom Heath made the following statement on their appointment.
“We are hardworking ‘all in’ people when we commit to something and made no secret that we were struggling to remain competitive in our second season in the NWCL after the FA’s imposed league restructuring. Players left and it was extremely difficult to recruit when requiring step 4 commitment at step 6. There comes a point where you must see things for what they are and whilst our frustration at the situation has grown in recent months, so has the desire. Non-league football is like a drug and despite a torrid six months you can’t help but chase the buzz of when things are going well. We are based in the midlands, we know midlands football and our contacts and relationships are with people in this area. There are no guarantees in anything but if the existing players, new recruits, and people behind the scenes get fully on board we are confident we can enjoy our football together. We very much appreciate the opportunity afforded us by AFC Bridgnorth and are extremely motivated to do well for them, the club and ourselves”. – Dom & Steve
With no game this Saturday 14th, the pair will be preparing for the trip to Bilston on 21st and we wish them well.
