Management news – 30th Jan 2024
 
AFC Bridgnorth are pleased to announce the appointment of SteveMcCormick as 1st Team manager with immediate effect.
 
Steve comes with a wealth of experience having played in the professional game in Scotland with Queens Park, Stirling Albion and Dundee before moving to Leyton Orient. McCormick also played for Bridgnorth Town in his later career under Steve Frisby.
He has managerial experience with Market Drayton. His enthusiasm and experience will hopefully kick start what is a crucial final third of the season for AFC Bridgnorth.
 
Club chairman Mark Weale said we were impressed with the quality of all the applicants and it was a tough decision but we are sure we have made the right appointment. Steve was thrilled after the appointment and is ready for the challenge.
 

Play Safe weekend – Saturday 30th Sept/Sunday 1st October

As the Play Safe weekend approaches – Saturday 30th Sept/Sunday 1st October – we will be joining football at every level in England in promoting the importance of safeguarding in football. Please watch the video below:

Steve and Dom are delighted to have bolstered the management / coaching team. Mark Danks joins as Assistant Mgr / player and Juan Dopazo comes in as 1st team coach. Welcome aboard both. ⚽️??

GOALKEEPER COACH APPOINTED

We would like to welcome Joe Wells as the teams Goalkeeper Coach.

“I’m really looking forward to working with the team”.

Joe has previously worked at Thatcham Town, where he won the Hellenic Premier League & FA Vase!

 


FIRST TEAM COACH APPOINTED

We would like to welcome Jacob Webster as the clubs new first team coach.

“I’m very excited to begin working with the team at Bridgnorth and can’t wait to get started”.

Jacob has previously worked within the coaching team at Gornal.

 


AFC Bridgnorth are pleased to announce the appointment of a NEW First Team Manager.

Dave Downing previously worked as part of the first team set up at Wolverhampton Sporting Community, Sutton Coldfield Town and Bilston Town.

He has also worked with the Association of Football Coaching and Teachers, coaching at Blackburn Rovers, Newcastle United and AFC Sunderland.

Dave has a wealth of expereince and we are happy to welcome him to the team at AFC Bridgnorth.

Dave said “I am looking forward to working at AFC Bridgnorth, I watched a few of the last games of the 2021/22 season and can see the potential to be a strong team who can get the results needed at this level. I am excited to start pre-season, getting the group back together and starting the hard work in preparation for the upcoming season”.

 


FIRST TEAM COACH, FIRST TEAM KIT-MAN & FIRST TEAM GOALKEEPER COACH NEEDED

That’s a wrap on the 2021/22 season

A late Stapenhill FC penalty saw the points shared at The Crown Meadow last weekend.

Thankfully a point was enough to confirm that we finished 14th and will stay in the Midland Football League Division 1 next season. Thank you for all your support this season, please continue to visit us at the club over the summer and we look forward to seeing you again at the start of next season.
