Our fourth encounter in the WMRL this season sees us back on home soil for the first time since the opening day, welcoming Bilston Town to the Crown Meadow. The Meadowmen have been trawling through cup fixtures and are still looking to earn their first win of the season, in the league campaign. Both sides will be eager to get a run of form going as the Christmas season fixtures aren’t far away and the weather starts to become unforgiving for teams at this level.
So far, Bilston have had a decent start to life in the league this season. They are going into this fixture off the back of a 3-1 derby win over neighbours, Wednesfield, the same side that beat AFC Bridgnorth 4-1 just two weeks ago. Bilston currently sit fourth in the table and have only lost one game (Worcester Raiders away) so it will be a big task for Ward’s side to get a positive result. However, if the Meadowmen carry on their momentum from their FA Vase victory away at Pershore on the weekend, they will surely cause the visitors some problems.
Form
League- WWLW
The Steelmen are experiencing a brilliant start to the league campaign. With goals flowing and consistency throughout the team, they will certainly be up there come the end of the season.
Although they’ve shown they can score goals, they are yet to keep a clean sheet this season in the league so if the hosts can grab the first goal on Saturday, it’ll be an interesting watch.
One to watch
The Steelmen’s Leon Taylor. Having already popped up with four goals in four league appearances this season, clubs are finding it hard to keep this man out. Crook, who was outstanding in the Meadowmen’s previous game, will have another busy day at the office on Saturday.
Summary
Both sides will be looking to spark a run of form in the league now. Bilston will want to make it two wins from two as they took a setback two weeks ago with a loss to Worcester Raiders. As for Ward’s side, still searching for that first three points in the league is proving tough, but, positive signs progressing through to the FA Vase first round proper last week will have had a big boost in morale at the Crown Meadow.
Live updates of the game will be available on Twitter @AFCBridgnorth during Saturday’s game.
