Club Statement: AFC Bridgnorth and Graham Ward part company

21 October 2020

AFC Bridgnorth Football Club has tonight (Wednesday) parted company with First Team Manager, Graham Ward.

– It was Ward’s decision to leave the club.

– Ward has served as First Team Manager since May 2020.

– AFC Bridgnorth progressed to the first round proper of the FA Vase for the first time since 2015/16 with Ward as manager.

– The board are discussing people to assume interim first team responsibilities.

Ward, appointed Bridgnorth manager in May 2020, brought in players of superb stature at this level. His energy around the club was bright and players (and fans) were excited for the campaign ahead, after a solid pre-season.

Chairman Mark Wheale said: “It is regret that we announce the resignation of Ward for personal reasons. We would like to put on record all of our thanks to Graham for all of his hard work and we want to wish him all the best for the future.”

The board will now begin the recruitment process and will make no further comment until that process is completed.
